New Year 2010 celebration by Greater Milwaukee Tamil Sangam

On Saturday May 8th evening Greater Milwaukee Tamil Sangam members celebrated the New Year event (Pudhiya Vaarpugal). The event was filled with various cultural programs including dances, songs, games and of course delicious south Indian food catered from Vani Vilas, Chicago.

“Jillunu Jora, Jikkunu Coola”, a ModTradi Theme based Fashion Ensemble by kids from age 3-7 years was amazing (be sure to check the video clip). Kids were dressed up as Bond, Tom Cruise, Amma and of course our favorite superstar Rajani Kanth.

Suraksha Kodgi once again proved to be the star on the stage. She did a solo dance for the medley of Kannada, Tamil and Hindi songs with the theme ‘Be Kannadiga, Be Tamilian, We all are Indians”. The dance was dedicate to the historic event of ‘Tiruvalluvar statue in Karnataka, Sarvajna in Tamil Nadu’ happened few months back (http://www.thehindu.com/2009/08/10/stories/2009081057200100.htm).

MC of the evening was Karthick Thyagarajan and Karthick was successful in keeping audience and participants in the celebration mood.

Among the participants the special guests were Mr. Natarajan and Mrs. Usha Natarajan (Jayanthi Raju’s relatives) who attended the event directly from Chicago Airport after coming from India. The enthusiasm in them to attend such an event covered the tiredness in their face.
