Deepavali 2010 By Milana

More than 200 members of Milana Kannada Koota of Wisconsin gathered at the Hindu Temple of Wisconsin auditorium on Saturday Dec 04 2010 to celebrate the festival of lights- Diwali (Deepavali). The celebration started with the introduction of new committee of 2010-2011.

The cultural program was organized to celebrate the Diwali at 7:30 PM and it was an blast with so many local talents rocked the stage with their vibrant dances. Dinner with mouthwatering dishes served from 6:30 PM.

This time the dinner was catered from Royal India restaurant, Milwaukee.

In Kannada Koota there is an tradition which being followed from past many many years- every event we held (4 cultural events in a year) will have a grand sponsor who sponsor the auditorium and kitchen. This Deepawali event was sponsored by well-known Drs Poornima & Jayaprakash.

Evening cultural event was kicked off by Pavan and Anu, who were also the MCs. Pavan, who welcomed the crowd with his melodious welcome song was an instant hit (be sure to check the video section).

The cultural programs were filled with 14+ items performed by children, teenagers and adults. It was an variety show The cultural programs closed at 10 PM.

On Saturday, March 20th 2010 evening the Ugadi Festival was celebrated at the auditorium of Hindu Temple of Wisconsin, organized by Milana Kannada Koota. More than 250 members of Milana Kannada Koota around Wisconsin participatedin the festival celebration.

Similar to the last event the stage and front side decoration was wonderful and the credit goes to the new organizing committee of Milana Kannada Koota headed by Mr. Suman.

The evening program started around 6 PM with get together hours to meet and greet members. The dinner started @ 6:45 PM and the dinner menu was wonderful. The food was prepared by current Kannada Koota committee and volunteers including Anu Pavan, Meena Segu, Triveni and others.

On Saturday, Jan 16 2010 evening more than 100 members of Milana Kannada Koota around Wisconsin participated in the Sankranti Festival Celebration at the auditorium of Hindu Temple of Wisconsin, organized by Milana Kannada Koota.
